"Stay safe and worry-free with our cutting-edge epilepsy seizure detection device."
Be alerted every time your child experiences a seizure with Epidetect
Our Team
PRODUCT
Introducing: EPIDETECT
An epileptic seizure detection device tailored for infants and toddlers which monitors their electrodermal activity, heart rate and motion and immediately notifies a caretaker when a seizure is picked up.
3 SENSORS
By leveraging advanced technology, we intend to monitor the patient’s electrodermal activity (EDA), heart rate using photoplethysmography (PPG), and motion using an accelerometer. Through our designed algorithm, our anklet will instantly detect any unusual data lasting for 15 seconds or more, and notify the designated caretaker through our app. Furthermore, our app also offers data insights that can assist doctors in understanding the frequency, triggers and patterns of seizures, leading to better treatment and management.
CONNECTIVITY
We are going to harness the LoRaWAN networking protocol to connect the device to a mobile phone since it has a connection range that outmatches that of WiFi or Bluetooth. Enabling an unrivalled long-range transmission of up to 10,000m, but also deep penetration powers to ensure every seizure alert transmitted is well-received.
EPIDETECT IN THE FUTURE
FUTURE PLANS
Further down the line, we will incorporate neural network models into our software to allow our algorithms to learn from the unique vital patterns of each patient to increase the accuracy of our device’s detection capabilities. Furthermore, we will strive to secure MDCD approval within the Thai FDA, to align ourselves with ASEAN MDD legislation.
We are certain Epidetect can seamlessly ramp up production to meet the demands of the market, our key to rapid scalability lies within the simplicity of manufacturing; featuring only 3 core sensors and a minimal yet elegant case that can be easily mass produced.
PROTOTYPES & TESTING
1st Prototype
Our first prototype, the accelerometer, has undergone rigorous testing and has demonstrated its ability to accurately detect chronic tonic seizures.
2nd Prototype
We pitched our innovation to Alpaca Media and Technologies and partnered with them to produce our second prototype, which is capable of detecting heart rate and motion, and is able to alert caretakers of irregularities via SMS.
